spirited away...While his family is originally from Jackson, Michigan, Casey Miller spent his youth growing up in Tokyo, Japan, and moved back to the US in 2000. He attended Hanover Horton High School (class of 2004) before moving out to California for college.
Since then, he's been gallivanting across the globe, tasting and drinking his way through countries and cultures, with an eye toward bringing exotic flavors back to the States. He is a two-time National Finalist for the USBG World Class Bartending Competition sponsored by Diageo, a prestigious international year-round competition, and was recently named Ann Arbor's Best Bartender at a local competition sponsored by the Ann Arbor Distilling Company. Nowadays, you can catch him slinging drinks at The Last Word in Ann Arbor, unabashedly reveling in his knowledge of Harry Potter trivia, and creating custom cocktail menus for themed parties at his company, The Adventurous Spirit. |
for the love of theme partiesThe Adventurous Spirit, founded in 2016, is Casey Miller's consulting and private events company. The business combines two of his greatest passions: themed parties and one-of-a-kind custom cocktail creations.
It started with a succession of Harry Potter-themed soirees and has expanded to all sorts of different genres, motifs, and occasions. We cater to those who are looking for something extraordinary - something with wit, style, and whimsy - to take their event to the next level. We work with you through every stage of the process - deciding on a concept, budgeting and ordering, creating a menu, and providing bartending services on the day - to make sure you and your guests have an experience that you'll be talking about for years afterward. USBG wORLD CLASS BARTENDING COMPETITIONS
the best of the bestUSBG World Class, sponsored by Diageo, is a prestigious competition that brings the best bartenders together from across the country to compete for the chance to represent the US on the world stage. The competition tests each participant's skill, speed, creativity, adaptability, style, industry knowledge, and endurance. Thousands apply to compete; 60 are selected for the Regional Finals. The top 3 from each region go on to compete in Nationals, where 15 bartenders square off for two days of challenges. It's a many months-long grueling, thrilling, and life-changing experience - and Casey Miller has done it twice.
Through World Class, Casey has gained the opportunity to learn from and share expertise with the best professionals working in the bartending and beverage industry today. He brings a wealth of knowledge from these experiences into his current work, crafting custom cocktails and organizing exceptional private events.
